Description: Compile the whole day report and add attachment including some inspection photos and some RFI documents.

Task: Work inspection: Installation of cold water tank at level 6. Accompany Mr. Helmi.

Description: The thing that has been checked is to see whether there is any leakage on the tank. It is done by determining whether there is any water volume drop.

Task: Read mechanical services : Sanitary Plumbing

Description: The system will be designed based on a one pipe fully vented stack system. All soil waste water from the buildings shall be discharged to the external underground manholes complying with JPP requirement. The internal sanitary system shall be designed to dispose soil and waste from all plumbing fixtures, through a vented gravity piping system inside the building and discharge to external manholes. All the external manholes shall be connected and discharge to external public sewer system. Manholes shall be constructed of reinforced concrete base and walls of brickwork, complete with heavy duty access covers and frames.

Task: Attend weekly progress meeting between KLIACS and MAJU.

Description: From the meeting, Mr. chairman has told us that ITTBTS project is progressing up to 85% until now. The Testing and Commissioning (T&C) procedure will expected to begin on 15th May 2010 whereby the PMC need to check whether all the system installed in the building is functioning or not. Up until now, only ICT works are quite left behind (50%) because they are depending mostly on the power supply incoming but the ICT consultant,ORENDA has briefed in the meeting confidently that they have ready with all the installation and testing procedure. The project is expected to hand over earlier before the contract date ends.

Description: There are several important rooms at level 1 which related to mechanical services. They are LPG room, Air-cond make up tank, oil interceptor tank, chiller plant room, wet riser tank, sprinkler water tank, fire pump room, and AWCS room.

Description: This letter is to be send to MOT.

Description:

1. Material delivery of 84kg FM200 gas cylinder c/w full accessories at MTB level 2, TMC room. FF/169.

2. Material delivery of cast iron gate valve at MTB level 1, store. FF/172.

3. Material delivery of DEMCO alarm bell 6” (150mm) D-102 at MTB level 1, store. FF/174.

Description: The meeting objective is to update the project progress and related matters and as platform to discuss and resolve any project issues as well as team members’ related issues. Task: T & C briefing (Lifts and Escalators procedures)

Description: The briefing session has been chaired by Mr. Kamarudin(Site Facilities Manager). 2 SIGMA’s representatives are present to brief on how they are going to conduct the T&C procedure specifically for lifts and escalators services. They have come out with their checklist on what item need to be checked during the T&C period.

Task: Read mechanical services : Automatic Waste Collection System (AWCS)

Description: This system shall consist of central vacuum plant (includes high pressure fans, valves, compressors, etc.) fitters, control panels, sealed containers, pipeworks, fully vacuum load station (FVLS) and computer workstation. FVLS is proposed at 3 areas only which are Food court, F&B outlets and restaurants at level 4. All FVLS are connected by 400mm diameter G.I pipeworks to discharge waste in bags to the main collection centre.

Task: Inspection of control panel installation & Megger Test for sprinkler, wet riser, hose reel and pressurized hydrant system at MTB level 1, fire pump room & pressurized hydrant pump room. RFI no: FF/176 and FF/178

Description: For megger test, the minimum resistance value need to be achieved is 300MΩ. Thus, getting the higher value is much better. It shows that the cables are well insulated.

Task: Read Testing and Commissioning (T&C) procedure

Description: The purpose of doing T&C is to confirm and validate that the function of the equipments and systems provided under the project meet the design and contractual requirements and that the quality of various elements of construction works meet the performance specified under the contract. In T&C procedure, there are 4 important forms involved. They are T&C/Conformance Test Record, Non Conformance Report(NCR), Document Review Form and Inspection Report.

Description: The forms involved in Taking Over procedure are Extension of Time Certificate, Defects List, Defects Liability Certificate, Taking Over Checklist and Taking Over certificate.

Task: Read mechanical services : sprinkler system

Description: In summary, the hazards class shall be OH III-45M to cover for the entire terminal building. Dedicated pump sets will be provided. The pumps will connect via alarm check valves and installation control valves to individual sprinkler heads. The whole system will be permanently charged with water and will automatically operate upon a pressure drop within the system on activation of the sprinkler head by heat.

Description: In summary, the system is served by a pump set with 1 duty, 1 standby and 1 jockey located at fire pump room. All pumps shall be electrically driven centrifugal type and provided with emergency genset supply via fire-rated cable. The landing valves shall be located at a height of 1 meter above floor slab on each level (ready for firemen’s use). Canvas hose of 65 mm diameter shall be provided in a hose cradle and located together with each landing valve.

Task: Read mechanical services : Hose reel system

Description: The system is located at level 1 fire pump room to give protection for the terminal building. The system is served by electrical hose reel pump set consist of 1 duty and 1 stand by located within the fire pump room. It is centrifugal type and the flow is 2.27 L/s. Individual 30m length hose c/w drum and nozzle will be strategically located at every hose reel compartment to provide 30m radius of coverage. Pipe material for above ground shall be G.I class ‘C’ whereas for underground, the same material is been used but it is coated with bituminous material.

Description: The checking is done by comparing the RFI received to the drawing (for lifts, escalators, and sprinkler). We have highlighted the areas for which the installations have been done. This is to ensure we know the mechanical works progress up until now.

Task: Read mechanical services : Portable fire extinguisher

Description: Portable ABC (9Kg type): Dry powder fire extinguisher shall be located at strategic positions along escape which are routes, lobbies, corridors, and general storage areas. Portable CO2 (2.2Kg type): Fire extinguishers shall be provided for all areas under potential electrical fire such as main switch room, genset room and pump rooms.

Description: Apply 2nd coat KCC i-floor H2O epoxy coating at chiller plant room, level 1. RFI no: ARC 2194. This coating is for water resistant purpose. Other inspections are more on installation of frame for ceiling.

Description: The purpose of the meeting is to update on the design progress approvals and related matters. All representatives from each consultant must attend this meeting to present their work progress. The consultants are HMX(Mechanical), Hasbullah Chan Assoc.(Architecture), ORENDA(ICT), TITIJASA(Landscape), MIE(Civil and Structure) and HTA(Electrical).

Task: Read mechanical services : kitchen exhaust and Ventilation system

Description: The kitchen exhaust are completed with fans, electronic air cleaner, ductwork, kitchen hoods(for food courts). The kitchen exhaust ducting shall be stainless steel of appropriate grade whereby all duct seams and joint shall be airtight with heat resistant and waterproof sealant. The ductwork shall be provided with sufficient opening at elbows and long run duct. For ventilation purpose, there shall be minimum of 85% make up air for proper air circulation. The intake of outside make up air via wall louvers into the kitchen shall be provided by a centrifugal type supply fan.

Task: Stick photos of steel bridge at the front office hall (instructed by Mr. Hisham)

Description: The photos are about the steel bridge installation including its beams, hanger, ribs and stringer.

Description: The steel bridge is used to link from MRR2 to MTB.

Description: The insulation material is Polyurethane (PU) fiber. Insulation is used to lower the heat transfer flow rate from the surrounding to the inner pipe.

Description: In summary, the incoming water is tapped from external mains and directly at level 1 suction tank where the suction tank is of FRP material. The water from suction tank is pumped via risers to roof storage tanks using vertical in line booster pump sets c/w water hammer arrestors.

Description:

1.The installation of sprinkler is at MTB, level 1 G/L X0-X9,Y0-Y4. The sprinkler pipe include main pipe, distribution pipe and range pipe. All those pipes have different sizes (40mm,32mm and 25m). This is to obtain the desired pressure required.

2.The installation of hydrant pump sets is at MTB, level 1 (Pressurized hydrant pump room). The hydrant pump sets is used to provide water supply for the fire fighting system.

Description: Briefly, the system is provided for level 2, 3, and 4 to enhance safety of occupants and fire fighters during fire situation. The areas covered are air conditioning area, departure platform and main concourse drop off area. Dedicated smoke spill ductwork and fans are provided for each compartment to perform the smoke spill function.

Task: Read mechanical services regarding Air Conditioning System Description

Description: From my reading, Air-conditioning unit (FCU & AHU) shall be thermal insulated complete with fan motors, drive guards, cooling coils, drain pan and pipes, air filters, dace and bypass dampers. Filter offered in the air conditioning unit shall be two stage filter with minimum efficiency of 90%-95% to ASHRAE standard 52-76. Piping material for chilled water shall be of medium grade – Black Steel pipes to BS 1387. Chilled water pipe should also be pre-insulated with rigid polyurethane foam and protected by an outer metal jacket.

Description: The ductwork used for air conditioning shall be fabricated from an acceptable quality of galvanized iron sheets using seams, slip joint and other standard practices recommended by SMACNA. For the server rooms, they are provided with 24 hour air conditioning system. It is achieved by coupling central air conditioning system with air cooled split unit. Air cooled split units shall be connected with essential power supply.

Description: The report consists of daily works completed for every day.

Task: Work inspection (Megger Test) at Zone D, level 1(AWCS Plant Room). Accompany Mr. Helmi (Mechanical Engineer) RFI no: WS/054. RFI status : A

Description: Megger Test is a test of the insulation properties of such things as electric wiring, motor windings and high power antenna mounts. The contractor have used insulation tester to see if it is shorted to ground in any way. The megger uses much higher voltages to check resistance than a normal Volt-ohm meter. The minimum resistance need to satisfy is 1Mohm whereas the test result obtained is above 400Mohm in average.

Description: Plan hanger is used to hang the drawings sheet. There are 4 types of drawings which are Design drawings, working drawings, As built drawings and Shop drawings.

Task: Attend weekly progress meeting between KLIACS and MAJU.

Description: This kind of meeting is conducted once in a week (usually Tuesday). Generally, the meeting starts off with MAJU representative presenting the overall progress of the project whether it is ahead or delay by comparing the actual and schedule percentage. Then, the meeting proceeds with MAJU representatives presenting the QA/QC report and HSSE report. Finally, the meeting continues with discussing the previous week minute of meeting to check whether the task to be done have been achieved or not.

Task: Read the mechanical works : Fire protection services

Description: There are several scopes covered in fire protection services for instances sprinkler system, wet riser system, pressurized hydrant system, hose reel system, fixed CO2 extinguishing system and etc.

Task: Read and retype the inception phase document.

Description: The inception phase of any project begins with determining the type of project that the Project manager will handle. KLIACS will be the Project management Consultant (PMC) which is on behalf of the client (MOT) to deal with the main contractor (MAJU). The PM will then propose his Project Team Organization (PTO) to the HQ to assist him in completing the job as PMC.

Description: The smoke curtain used is partial and fully closed smoke curtain. It will automatically roll down whenever fire occurs. It will then cover the burning area from receiving more oxygen so that the fire can be stopped.

Task: Check the reference no. of signage drawing to match with the report submitted.

Task: Work inspection: installation of 12.2m x 6.1m x 2.4m pressed steel tank c/w water level indicator, internal & external ladder, vent cowl & manhole access at Zone D, level 1(pressurized hydrant pump room). Accompany Mr. Helmi. RFI no: FF/156. Status: cancel RFI due to some amendments on the work done.

Description: This is one of assessment in my industrial training course. It will carry 10% for the marks. The blog will include my daily works at KLIACS. It is sort of an electronic diary.

Task: Megger test for Control Panel of AHU, FCU, kitchen exhaust, fresh air fan & exhaust fan at Zone D, level 5 & 6. Accompany Mr. Helmi. RFI no: MV/168. Status: partially done and postpone to the next day due to absence of the contractor.

Description: This test is to check for continuity of the connecting wire. The tester device will indicate 0 value for which the connection is continuous.

Description: To summarize, there will be 11 nos. motor-roomless passenger lifts for terminal buildings, 2 nos. passenger lifts with motor room for arrival platform, 2 nos. motor-roomless passenger lifts for link bridge, 16 nos. escalators for terminal building, 2 nos. escalators for link bridge.

Task: Assist Mr. Rosanizan to capture the progress photos at Zone A, B, C, D, E, and F.

Description: These photos are to be attached in the ITTBTS monthly progress report to show the updates for each zone.

Task: read mechanical services regarding LPG supply system

Description: In summary, the gas manifold come with 50 kg gas cylinders. It is automatic change-over duty and standby banks of cylinders. The gas pipework shall include pressure regulators, valves, emergency shut off valves, pressure gauge and all necessary fittings.
